Shania Twain made headlines at The 2011 Juno Awards in Toronto after she proclaimed her love for Canadian "bush"!!
The 45-year-old country music legend, who was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame during the award show, got up on-stage and during her speech declared, "Canada listen. I love our lakes. And I love our bush!"
Back in the media room, an awkward Shania apologized for the unintentionally filthy quote, and explained that she was talking about her love of Canada's great beavers forests, and not, umm, what everyone was really thinking.
Anyways, you can see more of what the Canadian singer loves when her new show, Why Not? With Shania Twain, premieres May 8th on OWN!!
Moving onto the "stars" of the show - Nickelback walked away with 3 awards, while my favourite Canadian singer, Lights(she looked so sexy) picked up an award for Best New Artist of the Year - She totally deserves it and I wish her the best of luck for many, many years to come!!
And The Juno's wouldn't be complete without an appearance by my favourite(sarcasm) Canadian couple, Leah Miller and Dallas Green, Gordon Downie of The Tragically Hip, Bryan Adams and Michael Bublé... As well there was an appearance by SYTYCD Canada's HOTTEST DANCER, Natalli Reznik(I will be interviewing her tomorrow so stay tuned for that)!!
So pretty much to sum-up the whole show - Yes, Canada has A LOT of talented artists, but maybe next year the awards shouldn't be so boring, and more upbeat?? Just a tip from your friendly celebrity blogger Zack Taylor!!
Russell was on Calgary's radio station, 98.5 FM the other day talking to show host, Mastermind about hosting the Junos and how he "felt bad" for the poor 11-year-old boy... Have a listen...
I'm glad Russell finally apologized, but I feel he still needs to come forward and address the issue in an official statement and not just on 1 radio station... Do you think this is enough, or should Russell do more for little Teddy?!
However, Juno show-writer / a friend of Russell's, Trevor Boris did come forward with a statement on what happened...
"As one of the writers of the Juno Awards, and a close friend of Russell Peters (I'm also openly gay), I know that Russell Peters did NOT mean any harm by his 'flamer' comment to the young boy in the crowd during the show, and felt bad afterwards. What happened was that he was asked to 'stretch' for a minute as the show was light at the time, and was put in the crowd to chat with some fans. He made a 'flamer' reference to a guy wearing a shirt with flames all over it, then talked to a young boy in the crowd, and after having some fun with him, he asked since he was so young if he even liked girls yet. Well, the kid said 'no'. I don't think Russell was expecting that and as almost any comic would've done in that position made a call back to the 'flamer' joke.. He did not mean to hurt his feelings, and it was not in the script. It just came out."
The 11-year-old boy who Russell Petersmade fun of at The Junos was so embarrassed, he didn't even want to go to school yesterday according to family members!!
Family members contacted Isthishappening.com and said,
"He was so embarrassed by [Russell Peters] comments last night that he was afraid kids at school would make fun of him and call him 'gay'... We hope Russell will do the right thing and apologize. Picking on a young kid is nothing to be proud of."
Russell had asked the boy his age and if he was into girls... The kid said NO, and Russell said, "Hey Calgary... Speaking about FLAMES..."
The audience laughed and the boy looked as if he was goin' to cry... He had no idea what Russell meant!! An Isthishappening.com source who was in the VIP section told us, "They asked him if he was okay and one person rubbed him on the back and said, "you did good." He didn't seem thrilled."
I hope Russell sees thisand like the family says, DOES THE RIGHT THING!!
Avril Lavigne was seen on the red carpet in Calgary last night for the 2008 Juno Awards... She performed her hit single, Girlfriend at the awards, and like most of her live performances, it sounded terrible!! Avril was also shut out at the Junos... poor girl!!

I give her a 7/10 because she did look kinda cute... What do you rate her??
Russell Peters was the host of the 2008 Juno Awards last night, and he was f**kin' hilarious... However, I think he crossed a couple lines...
He started off the night by saying, "South Asians are now the largest visible minority group in Canada... You know what that means, Calgary. Pretty soon your cowboys are going to be Indians."
He then crossed the line when he spoke to an 11-year-old boy from the audience... He asked the boy his age and if he was into girls... The shy boy said NO, and Russell said, "Hey Calgary... Speaking about FLAMES..."
The audience laughed and the boy looked as if he was goin' to cry... He had no idea what Russell meant!! Do you think he went to far??
Canada held our version of the Grammys earlier tonight and my "favourite" artist, Feist took home 1,2,3,4 and 5 awards!! Rihanna won for best international album, and Michael Buble took home a Juno for Fan Choice Award... After winning his award Michael said, "I'd like to thank Doritos for making such tasty treats... Sometimes when I eat them, my fingers go orange -- but it's worth it... This is for all the people who said I couldn't vote for myself enough times to win!!"
Some other winners were:
• Single of the Year — 1234 — Feist
• Album of the Year — The Reminder — Feist
• New Group of the Year — Wintersleep

Montreal's Arcade Fire, Burlington's Finger Eleven and Blue Rodeo received three Juno nods each as well... Hosting the Juno festivities will be Canadian comedian Russell Peters - great f&%kin' choice!!
Peters said today, "I'm excited to be hosting The Juno Awards - a show which I never would have watched... until now!!"
